Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of diets supplemented with different levels of Zenyang (Trachyspermum ammi L.) on growth and immune response, Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fry and resistance to copper exposure. The fish (9.98 ± 0.46 g) were fed diets containing 0.5, 1 and 1.5 % of Zenyang per 1 kg of basic food for 60 days. Expriments were done in Gonbad Kavous University druring 2023 years. Afetr feeding, Fish were exposed to sulphate copper (CuSO4, 5H2O) stress (0.1 mg/l) for 96h. Behaviours and clinical signs of fish were recorded during the experiment. Samples were cut from kidney, liver and gill of moribund and fresh dead fish for histopathological signs. The highest final weight (FW) and the lowest Food conversion ratio (FCR) were obtained in fish fed with diets containing Zenyang. At the end of the feeding period, Serum total immunoglobulin levels and lysozyme and complement (ACH50) activities were significantly higher in the 1% group than in the control group. After stress, all fed groups with Zenyang supplements had higher lysozyme and complement (ACH50) activities, compared to the control group. After stress, the highest levels of stress indicators (cortisol and golocus) were observed in the control group. Histopathologic results showed hyperplasia, edema, expansion of secondary lamella, epithelial cells necrosis of gill were most lesions. Altogether, our results show that dietary inclusion of Zenyang can be used for growth, as is a sustainable strategy in redused of effects of copper exposure in common carp fish.
